What to Expect In a Breathwork Session

Before the Session

I suggest that you DO:

  • Wear comfortable clothes for your session, if possible. If you come in from work and are wearing business attire, it’s okay.
  • Eat a little something before you come in so that you don’t get hungry during the session. Just don’t eat so much that it’s difficult for you to breathe deeply.
  • You may want to set an intention of releasing a specific issue during your session. Or you can just let go and trust that whatever needs to be released, will be. This work is divinely guided.

I suggest that you AVOID:

  • Smoking for four to five hours before your session, this goes for medical marijuana too.
  • Drinking caffeinated beverages such as soda, coffee, and energy drinks four to five hours before the session.

These substances make it difficult to do one of the most healing aspects of Breathwork – releasing toxic energy during your session.

During a Session

Phase 1 – Set the Stage

We will talk about your concerns, so we can focus the session on what you want to change in yourself or your life right now.

We will fill out a Client History Form to give me information about your life that will help me help you during our work together. This will give me more clarity about what has been going on with you and give additional depth to your session work.

Then, I will fully explain the process and what we will be doing in the session to help you understand what’s going on.

Phase 2 – Breathe and Release

We will start by releasing the experience to the highest good for your best healing.

Then you will be taught how to breathe in a way specifically designed to bring forth from your cells suppressed memories, emotions, trauma and toxins like anesthesia or nicotine.

This may sound scary, but you will be safe doing this because I will be with you every step of the way to help you handle whatever comes up.

These suppressed energies must be allowed to surface, because you need to know something is there before you can heal it – and we will heal it in your session.

You may cry, you may laugh, you may yell – these are all great ways to release the repressed energies and unconscious beliefs that have held you back.

While you breathe and release old energies, I will support and guide you with visualizations, energy work, chakra balancing, inner child work and other techniques to help you get the most out of your healing experience.

The more you relax into the experience and let me guide you, the more negative energies you will release and the more liberating insights you will gain.

Phase 3 – Meditation

At this stage, I will want you to relax your breathing.

After releasing some of the negative energy you’ve been holding for so long, this part of your session feels like the icing on the cake.

I will take you into a meditation to help you get in touch with your guidance, whatever that may be for you.

You may experience your guidance as God, a guardian angel, your Higher Power, your Higher Self, a Spirit Guide, a loved one or friend, or just that part of yourself that knows what you need.

Sometimes people see colors or have a sense of floating or being cradled.  Sometimes there is a sweet sense of peace and love.

Let yourself trust what comes into your mind. Even if you think you’re making it up, just go with it. You may receive a message and a gift from your guidance at this time.

I may walk you through a visualization to help you if you’re not consciously receiving anything on your own, but I will encourage you to open to trusting your own intuition.

Phase 4 – Renew and Review

To complete your session, I will balance your chakras and seal your energy field for protection.

While I’m doing this, and if you are open to it, I will ask you to thank God and your Guides (however you may see them) for their guidance in the way that feels most appropriate for you.

You may feel a little disoriented when we’re done: we will sit together for a few minutes to help you get completely grounded.

At this time, we will review briefly what happened in your session and what you can do to help yourself now.

Afterward

If you’re like most people, after a Breathwork session you will feel very light, more open, and even euphoric for a few days.

However, it is possible you may find you’re a little more emotional than normal, and that’s okay.

If the emotions that are still coming up feel overwhelming, I strongly suggest you come back in for another session as soon as possible so that we can clear it in the safe environment of a session. Otherwise, you may take it out on the people around you, and usually the people closest to you.

You’ll want to drink a lot of water after a session. You’ve brought a lot of toxins to the surface with the breathing, and water will help flush them out.

In the days and weeks that follow, you may find you experience:

  • More self-confidence
  • Access to more creativity and clarity
  • A deeper sense of well-being
  • A stronger connection with God and your Spirit Guides
  • Even if you never say a word to anyone about the work we’re doing, often the people around you will feel the effects; your relationships may improve. Whenever you’re healed, others heal with you.
